This year we have available, three items, an ARTirondack Children’s Chair, an ARTirondack Deacon’s Bench, both handcrafted and painted, and a woodcarving of a 6’ tall Santa Claus.
The ARTironack children’s chair was hand made by our Options Woodworking group and handcrafted and painted by talented staff Karen Bowen. Karen was last years winner in the Best Painted category for her Thomas the Tank Engine chair. This year’s chair is just as ingenious as it features a Royal family, knights, horses and of course, no fairy tale castle could be complete without a Dragon. All the play pieces fit nicely inside the castle, a storage compartment built into the back of the chair. The door of the castle swings down just like a real drawbridge enabling the Royal residents to cross the moat which encircles the chair.
New this year is an ARTirondack Deacon’s Bench hand built by the crafty woodworkers in our Options Woodworking program. It was hand painted by staff Karen Murphy-Fritz. Karen was the winner in the Most Original Chair category for her Pond Life children’s chair in 2007. This beautiful bench features a serene beach scene with calm azure seas surrounding a lush tropical island on the horizon with waves crashing on the rocks just off shore. Sitting on the beach are two Muskoka chairs, the waves gently lapping at the legs. The seat of the bench resembles a sandy beach complete with driftwood and scattered seashells so realistic looking that you’ll attempt to pick one up. The seat of the bench lifts to reveal a perfect storage area.
The giant 6’ tall Santa Claus woodcarving was donated to Community Living Dufferin by one of our parents Theresa Huntley. This beautiful, jolly Santa will be a terrific compliment to your holiday décor this Christmas. Let Santa greet all of your family and friends this holiday with his smiling cherubic face, he’s sure to make for a great conversation piece.
There are limited numbers of tickets available. Each item is it’s own raffle, tickets cannot be combined. There are 1000 tickets for the Tropical bench, valued at $500., 750 tickets for the Castle chair, valued at $300., and 250 tickets for Santa, valued at $100.
Tickets are just $2 each or 3 for $5.00
The draw will be held on Saturday September 18th during our OPEN HOUSE at our brand new building, 065371 County Road 3, Orangeville, ON. Proceeds raised through ticket sales go into new and existing programs at CLD.
