About Supported Employment
Hiring a people who have an intellectual disability is smart business. Many employers across Ontario have reaped the benefits of tapping into this labour pool. There are people and resources available to support employers to successfully hire people who have an intellectual disability.
There is lots of help for employers who would like to consider hiring someone who has an intellectual disability, often at no cost. There are employment service agencies that offer supported employment programs. These services specialize in matching candidates who have an intellectual disability to the available job opportunity and in providing training and follow up supports to both the new employee and the employer.
Most local associations for community living offer Supported Employment services and other resources to help employers hire people who have an intellectual disability. To find one near you please click here.
